Quick Mask mode is a powerful way of selection in Photoshop. It is a selection based on the masking of the desired portion of an image. It is used for minute and accurate selections.
To enter the Quick Mask Mode press the letter Q on the keyboard.

Step 1
Open this image in Photoshop CS6
File > Open > Computer > Visual Arts V: drive > Digital Photography > Exercise Images > quickmaskselection
Click on the Quick Mask Mode icon at the bottom of the tool's panel. The icon is a gray square with a white circle in the middle.
Double click on quick mask mode. Select "Selected Areas" Keep the red color or you can change it. Default opacity is 50%. Make it 70 % if you want more dark color for selection.
Click OK to close the dialog box.

Step 2
Click on the Brush tool
Then choose a brush from the Options Bar. Select a hard brush for a distinct selection edge or a soft brush for a feathered selection edge. Set the brush Opacity to 100 percent and choose an appropriately sized brush.
Step 3
Paint with White to add to your selection, or use Black to remove parts of the selection. Switch between the two colors to pressing "X" on the keyboard.

This is what yours should look like after painting on the image in the Quick Mask mode
When you will finish with painting, click "Edit in Standard Mode" button. Red color will be replaced by normal selection.
Click the Quick Mask button to return to Standard Mode and view the selection edges.

Open this image in Photoshop
File > Open > Computer > Visual Arts V: drive > Digital Photography > Exercise Images > footballfield
You can now just Edit > Copy the football payer and Edit > Paste on the new background (footballfield).

Save this to your digital photography folder on your Z: drive as Last Name_QuickMask
